It's still flowing Day 4

Well the creative juices are still flowing, well trickling out rather than gushing which I guess is better than nothing.

It has been a funny week at work this week, Monday we were all evacuated because of a fire at work, 5 fire engines in attendance and a customer who refused to leave. the store had only been re-opened for 20 minutes & a customer came up to my colleague and said that he thought he was having a stroke, cue first aider and an ambulance.
If that wasn't enough in the afternoon we had two unattended bags left in the middle of my department, when I called out asking if the belonged to anyone a customer came forward, I asked that she stayed with her luggage as we had already evacuated the store once today, to which she gave me the Nazi salute, Nothing surprises me with some of our customers anymore.

On Wednesday we lost a work experience girl, & after investigation she had gone home sick without telling anyone, but you do worry when someone disappears.

Well enough waffle about my weird week here is todays card.

Cardmakers Mojo! Where can I buy some

My cardmakers mojo is struggling to come to the surface at the moment I am finding it incredibly hard to make the cards i need for family & friends at the moment.
I also need to find inspiration for my Stampin' up samples. This all started just after I had finished my Christmas cards. Since Scrapbooking became my favourite past time I have really struggled.

My personal challenge is 1 card
1 Stampin' Up set of stamps
1 colour family
Each day for a whole week.

Day 1

So to start the creative juices flowing I have lifted the idea from a sample made by my upline Michelle.

Marker Share

Do you love the Stampin Up markers but you cannot afford to spend £99.95 in one go???
I am running a marker club! I need 4 people for 4 months! Each month you will spend £24.95 and get one set of markers. I will order the full case and split them up between the 4 people each month.

What are the benefits??

You get to only pay £24.95 a month (plus £2.00 p&P) rather than £99.95 in one go.
one month during the share you will get the carrying case which is only available if you buy the whole set together.

Please contact me if you would like to take a place in this marker share.

Crop day

The third Saturday of the month is crop day at Alisons crop.
In the morning Alison had arranged a photography workshop with Suzanne from Inspired Norfolk.
I now have my camera off the auto settings for probably the first time since paul bought it for me.Abi was our model & after she got over her initial shyness she did enjoy the experience.
Everyone took some beautiful pictures & Alison has put some on her blog.
Here are some of my favourites that I took.

Before photoshop

After photoshop with deep blue & split toning ( Thanks Dan )

Alisons Montage from yesterday
If you are interested in the next photography workshop, you can contact Alison via her blog for further information.

No layouts to show from yesterday as I didn't manage to finish anything during the crop, but the way the snow is coming down today I will probably be able to find some time today to sneak up to my craft room & play.

A day off !

This week being half term I have had a few days off to spend with Abi, Dan has been in Paris on a photography trip.
We decided to make a day trip to Cambridge, me to have a wander round as I love Cambridge, Abi on a mission to find the Jack Wills shop. The journey out too Cambridge was a little bit of pain as it was part train & part coach as we wanted to shop I didn't take my DSLR camera just my point & shoot. We left Norwich with the threat of snow & arrived in Cambridge to clear blue skies although it was very cold.

When you get off the train & on just about every spare railing in the town there are bikes hundreds & hundres of bikes everywhere, You have more chance of being run over by a bike than a car.

The amazing kings college.

I did manage to persuade Abi to pose for a couple of pictures for me outside kings college which is the most impressive looking college.

And finally outside the Jack Wills shop proudly sporting her purchase in its beautiful bag.

Paper bag scrapbooks

A while ago I was given an undecorated paper bag album to create, I was very new to scrapbooking when Alsion gave me this to decorate & until I had seen some other examples online I was a bit confused as to what I was supposed to do with it.
I managed to source the flat bottom paper bags, which were amazingly hard to find, whilst i'm sure that many of our american cousins throw them away on daily basis these bags are like gold dust.

This is the album I made for Paul, it is just awaiting the photo's and finishing touches.

The tabs are on the edge of pages that slip into the open ends of the bags.

Hard to believe that this mini book started life as a plain old paper bag.

Making paper bag books is really quite easy. Using 3 lunch bags, stagger them so that the open flap falls to the right, then to the left, then to the right again. Lay them one on top of the other.

paper bag books There are several ways you can bind your paper bag albums. You can punch 3 or more holes down the left side and later use ribbons to tie them together.

bindings for paper bag books Or you can sew down the center, creating a sewn spine.

sewn spine paper bag book Another option is to bind them with a bind-it-all if you have one.
Or use metal rings, which you can purchase at scrapbook stores.
Once the holes are punched you could also thread ribbons through the spine.

To create additional inside pockets you can use brads, eyelets, glue or even sew down flat bottom portion of the lunch bags.

Over the weekend I have made three of these & made them into valentines cards

Scrapbooking Me ~ Page 1

Do you remember me saying that as I flicked back through my last 9 months of scrapbooking that I feature in very few pages. So I decided to remedy that & scrapbook me.

So here we go with page 1
{ setting the scene }

I found a list of possible page subjects & have now started my quest to scrapbook me & my life. This is actually harder than I thought as I am also usually the one that is taking the pictures.

Scrapbooking me ~ page 2

Whilst spending the day in my craft room last week I had my new netbook upstairs with me so I was crafting & chatting with Alison whilst she was trying out ideas for projects for her forthcoming crop when she found this beautiful little mini album.

With the mini book closed

With the mini book openThis is page 2 of project " Scrapbook Me"

Link on elsies blog ~ scroll down the post.

So I thought I would have a go as part of the scrapbooking 'ME' theme.

I have used Stampin' Up Kraft card for the base of the project.

Cut two 4x4" paper squares and four 4x5" paper strips, I used brown card stock, you can also use patterned paper. Fold 1" so that you have a 4x4 square, and 1" flap, do this to all four paper strips.

Use glue dots on the back of the paper flaps, and glue each paper strip flap to each of the four sides of one of the squares.

Glue the second 4x4 paper square in the center to cover up the paper strips.

Now you can decorate with pictures, or just cute little notes and text, I am going to use this one as the centrepiece for a layout.

Crafts are here

Crafts are here, crafts are there,

My craft supplies are everywhere.

I really should clean this mess,

but I like it I confess.

Floor is littered, chairs are piled,

Kitchen's looking pretty wild.

On the table, counter too,

Seems that any place will do.

Hall is stacked with cartons high,

filled with things folks like to buy.

Garage is full, but so far....

there's still room to park the car.

I never have an idle day,

New ideas come my way.

Don't know yet what I'll create,

but my imagination's great.

My family smiles, they don't complain,

although at times I am a pain.

but when all is said and done,

I really am a crafty one!
