Queuing to see Katie

Nearly at the door now, camera ready

Yesterday Katie Price was in Norwich to do a book signing & as Abi has read all of her previous books she really wanted to go & see her & get the latest book signed & I have to admit being a keen photographer I was more than a tad curious too see just how much Katie was airbrushed when you see her in magazines. That probably makes me sound like a total bitch but I used to admire her as a working Mother until she split with Peter Andre & had the very public airing of her dirty washing.

We arrived in the city just after 9am to find there was already a long queue & when they came round handing out the tickets so the could keep track of the queue we were number 176 in the queue.
Katie arrived fashionably late, though that's not exactly how be felt when we had been standing in the queue for 3 1/2 hours. But once she started signing she whisked through them, it was a shame that everyone was rushed past her after waiting so long to see her, but i did manage to fire off some pictures so Abi was happy & especially happy when Katie said " Thank you Abi ".

Well in the name of research I have to say she was charming & smiley & the photo's that you see in the gutter press do not do her justice I thought she was very attractive & didn't seem to be the fake plastic wreck that the press have portrayed her as recently.

A happy Abi with her signed copy of Paradise

Inspired afternoon

Its been a short weekend this week as I worked yesterday so I have spent an inspired afternoon in my craft room whilst multi tasking and cooking a mouthwatering roast beef dinner, haven't had a roast for ages & just fancied one today.
Recently I have bought a few classes from a fellow demonstrator to inspire me.

I do this from time to time when my mojo desserts me or when i am just too busy or stressed to play. I seldom copy them directly I just use them as a starting point for either design or colour.
I recently bought the set on a pedestal so I just fancied having a play. I have broken out some of the colour renovation products
Melon mambo, Soft Suede & Rich Razzleberry.

Just had to share

Tonights Stampers 10

Tonight's stampers 10 projects are made using the Garden Whimsey set, Alice who is tonight's hostess made the choice of the set were using & I'm so glad she did as It's a set I haven't had out in a while.

The first project is a bag-e-lope this bag is made using a 5"  x 7" envelope, but in reality you can use any size envelope.
It is so easy
These are the instructions for the construction of the Bag-e-lope, I do however recommend that you decorate the bag-e-lope before assembly.
1. Seal the envelope by licking the flap.

2. Using a scoring board or a ruler & embossing tool score 1" in from the two long sides & one short side.

3. Fold the scored lines a couple of times to make them flexible.
4. Trim off the top ( unscored ) by about 1cm to make the bag opening

5. On the bottom of the bag cut as shown & fold

6. Using wet glue or super sticky tape tape flaps together & then tape to the bottom of the Bag-e-lope.

7. Using the crop o dile hold together the top of the bag and punch 2 holes to thread the ribbon handle through.

 8. Use the real red gingham ribbon to make 2 handles, you need approximately 25cm for each handle.

The colours used in this project are
Whisper white
Basful blue
Real red
Old olive
Pumpkin pie

The designer papers are Bashful blue

The next project of the night was a card using the Garden Whimsey set & the papers Sweet Pea from the current mini catalogue .
I have made a couple of variations, the inspiration for these came from fellow Demo Jenny Moors.

The evening was made complete by Alice & her legendary chocolate cupcakes that she makes for us when she's the hostess.

All of the above products are from Stampin' Up and are available to purchase through me as a Stampin' Up creative coach.

A lovely evening spent with fellow crafters & now i'm off to bed to try out the lovely new mattress that arrived this morning.

A couple of reminders

Good morning the weather here in East Anglia looks very promising, I hope that whereever you are the sun is shining down on you.

The first reminder is about the Alexander Palace coach trip that i'm running on the 26th Septemeber to the big stamping & scrapbooking show.  There are still some places left on the coach from Norwich or Thwaite, check out my post & let me know if your interested.

The second reminder is for our Christmas Stampin' Up experience day, these have become very popular & there are only a limited number of places left. The cost for the day is £25 and includes all of your materials except glues & refreshments throughout the day. Please let me know if you would like to come along & join us on our Christmas experience day

Sad day

Today at work was a sad day as one of my work colleagyes & friends has left to start a new chapter of her life. Lucy is off to pastures new & initially has a placement on an RSPB reserve in Scotland, something she has always wanted to do & I am so glad that she has been able to have the opportunity to have such an adventure.
Lucy has taught me a lot about tollerance especially with some of our most challenging customers at work, something I will always try & remember.
So to mark the start of Lucy's new adventure I made her a journal using the Autumn splendor stamps from the current mini catalogue & the designer papers Autumn meadow.

Knowing where to start

I have recently seen so many lovely ideas for 3d projects that I just had to try these lovely corner bookmarks, there are two different ways to make these bookmarks.

Version 1 uses a 5" square piece of card
Score from corner to corner across the diagonal so that you have four triangles.
Cut out one of the triangles & use as a pattern for the decorative borders & strips.
Fold along the score lines to make a triangle that will fit over the page of your book & decorate.
Glue the two flaps together to strengthen & decorate.

Still sharing the experience day cards

Michelle designed this beautiful brayered card for the afternoon session of the recent Stampin' Up experience day that we held last week. I love this card, but I have to admit to being a total novice when it comes to the Brayer, I have never liked the results that I have achieved, but I think it is one of those techniques like distressing that goes against the rule " less is more" because now I have the hang of distressing I love it & i'm sure that it would be the same with Brayering. When you only do a little it looks pants, definately a technique for the brave to carry on & get great results like this card.

All of the products are available from Stampin' Up & can be purchased through me.

The last of the morning cards

This card uses the very versatile Pocket Silhouettes set, a set i find I dont use enough. The butterflies are from the Flight of the Butterfly. The vase is made from the oval punch with the ends nipped back through the punch to cut the top & bottom.
can you guess how the scalloped background was made?
It was made from 6 scallop squares cut from Chocolate Chip & glued together being overlaid by just one scallop of the scalloped squares.
All of the above products are from Stampin' Up & are available to purchase through me.

Flight of the butterfly from Experience day

Another of the morning cards to go in the bird house box, this card was designed by Michelle & follows the Pink Passion & Pretty in pink colour theme, with the addition of Chocolate Chip.
As you can see from some of the projects so ar that we used the Stamp a ma jig a lot during the experience day, I have to confess that it never used to be a tool I liked but once you get the hang of it I guarantee that you will love it as much as I do. The chocolate chip ribbon is nipped in using the legs of the rhinestone brads, which gives a different look from piercing it through the ribbon.

Crafts are here

Crafts are here, crafts are there,

My craft supplies are everywhere.

I really should clean this mess,

but I like it I confess.

Floor is littered, chairs are piled,

Kitchen's looking pretty wild.

On the table, counter too,

Seems that any place will do.

Hall is stacked with cartons high,

filled with things folks like to buy.

Garage is full, but so far....

there's still room to park the car.

I never have an idle day,

New ideas come my way.

Don't know yet what I'll create,

but my imagination's great.

My family smiles, they don't complain,

although at times I am a pain.

but when all is said and done,

I really am a crafty one!
