Scrap Happy Crop Make & Take

Yesterday Alison asked if I would like to do an Easter themed Stampin' Up demo at yesterdays crop, despite being my birthday, I thought it would be a fun way to spend my Birthday with my Crafty friends.

I made the same card in two colour ways the reverse of each other.

The first one has a Tangerine Tango base

The second card has a Melon mambo base

The flower is made with the extra large Flower accent punch cut into three layers, one side is spritzed with water & moulded round the top of the Tombow glue bottle & then left to dry, repeat for each layer of the flower.

The mist that I used to spritz the flowers is made from Distilled water, Isopropyl Alcohol & Champagne Mist shimmer paint mixed in a spritzing bottle.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

The question about where I get my inspiration from is the commonest question I think that I have been asked since becoming a demonstrator two years ago.
Well my inspiration comes from just about everywhere, The most obvious being the ideas book & catalogue that is produced by Stampin' up & that is where the inspiration for todays cards has comes from page 66 in the catalogue.

I always look at what my fellow demonstrators are doing & often use their cards or projects for a starting point for my own projects & always share where the inspiration comes from.
Colour inspiration comes from the colour coach tool which is always out on my work desk. Other colour combinations come from magazines of all types especially home & garden magazines, Photo's I have taken. Nature is very good for finding colour combinations that work well & are always changing like the seasons, so they provide a constantly changing colour palette.
I think one of the strangest places for inspiration for colour combinations are DIY stores when they have wallpaper & paint samples.

Here is my case of the above cards

Very Cath Kidston

In a momentary lapse I chose the new baby blossoms set as my freebie set for my sales during Sale~A~Bration. I loved the set in the catalogue, I loved all of the samples I have seen made with this set yet I knew that this set would challenge me.

Wood mounted 121927 £26.95 Clear Mounted 122000 £21.95
Set of 18 stamps

This set as you can see is a two step stampin set & you need a stamp~a~ma~jig, I do love my Stamp~a~ma~jig, but I struggle with floral cards, both colouring & layouts of floral cards challenge me.
But a fellow demo came to the rescue when I found this cheat sheet on her blog. I have printed it off and laminated to keep on my desk when using this set. I have also labelled the stamps, the tree stamps that make up flower number 1 I labelled 1 & so on for all of the 5 flowers.

The ribbon on this card has been gathered by fraying the end of the ribbon & then finding a single fibre near the middle of the ribbon & slowly gathering it into a ruffle.

The first card I made is very Cath Kidston & I am so pleased about the way it turned out.

Fur babies update week 7

The last 7 weeks have flown past & the fur babies Aka Peanut Butter & jelly are really Changing.
They have grown so much but they don't seem to growing in proportion as their tails are nearly the same length as their bodies.
Over the last 7 days Jelly who was initially reluctant to eat solids is now the first at the bowl as soon as I go into the kitchen in the morning & if I happen to top the biscuit bowl up for the older cats during the day she wakes up from a deep sleep & comes running.

Both babies still sleep a lot but when their awake they run around like crazy. They even get baby sat by Sassy my big neutered male cat.

On Saturday night we had an intruder of the 4 legged kind, I got up to let the cats in & Maddie & a black streak shot through the door to the kitchen, I assumed the black streak was Sassy, at the time the babies were in the kitchen eating their supper. It was only when I sat back down I realised that the black cat was indeed Black & white, the Daddy cat, we then realised during the evening that Maddie is now in Season & we have the kittens Daddy camped on our Patio serenading her all night, But as she'd been out all day It may be too late to keep her indoors.

The kittens were a little spooked by the proceedings & climbed up on me for a cuddle, with PB falling asleep sucking my finger before completely relaxing & laying back like a baby.
PB Chilled for the evening in my arms

Crafts are here

Crafts are here, crafts are there,

My craft supplies are everywhere.

I really should clean this mess,

but I like it I confess.

Floor is littered, chairs are piled,

Kitchen's looking pretty wild.

On the table, counter too,

Seems that any place will do.

Hall is stacked with cartons high,

filled with things folks like to buy.

Garage is full, but so far....

there's still room to park the car.

I never have an idle day,

New ideas come my way.

Don't know yet what I'll create,

but my imagination's great.

My family smiles, they don't complain,

although at times I am a pain.

but when all is said and done,

I really am a crafty one!
