Another day, Another post

Good Morning, I think taking some time off from work has done wonders for my Missing Mojo. Last year I only used 3 days on my annual holiday entitlement & as a family we had a lot of stress going on I Dont think I realised  how much it had all got to me. This last 12 days I have spent time catching up with friends & crafting. This week being half term I have Abi home from sixth form to share creative time with.

 The first card uses Build a blossom from the current catalogue & I've paired that with the lovely set called Charming from the Spring Mini Catalogue. This card is probably best being hand delivered as I've used double layer dimensional s on the flower to add layers of depth.

On page 124 of the main ideas book and current catalogue is a product called textured impressions embossing set ~ designer frames. I had previously overlooked this pair of embossing frames. When Sharon & I did an event back in December she had left these two embossing folders in my box by accident & they have been sat on my shelf ever since. So I thought I would have a little play with them & I guess now they will have to be added to my wish list. On this card I have embossed the frame in Calypso Coral, I think it really pops off the page. The other Embosslit is the beautiful wings folder which is a must for both card-makers & scrapbookers. With 5 sizes of butterfly each with a different texture,its great to add a butterfly if you have any stray ink on your cards or a little mark where it shouldn't be, that's a top tip I picked up from one of my ladies at the event on Saturday.

Stampin' Up Training event Jan 2012

I know i'm more than a little late with this post as the Peterborough training event was back at the beginning of January, But work has been manic with Sale & then stock-take. So today is one of the first opportunities I've had to finish the projects & edit the pictures.
I love these training events as the are both crafting & business based, Sharon & I got up very early on the Sunday morning & went & picked Marie up, its the first event I've ever been too with two of my down-line & it was a lovely day.
The business training was lead by Bekka, so as well as being informative it was also fun.
I thought you would like to see some of the projects that Monica & Bekka had designed for us.

 This card holder is made from a single A4 sheet of card in one of the current In-colours Island Indigo. The papers used in all of the projects come from the Designer series Paper stacks, there is one for each of the colour families including the two In colour families.

The second project was a lovely card using one of the new sets from the Spring Mini catalogue that is decorated both on the inside & outside.

 This card uses the full heart punch & the 122362 Lace ribbon Border punch in such a creative way I just love the simplicity of this card & it could be adapted for any occasion.

 Another new stamp set from the Spring Mini Catalogue is the create a cupcake, I have to say of the new sets this is one of my favourites,

What a Wonderful Event today

A huge thank you to everyone that attended our Stampin' Up Extravaganza event today. We're so glad that you braved the freezing Temperatures to join us. We worked you hard today but we hope that you enjoyed the projects that we shared with you.

A woman walked into the office of the personnel manager of a large company and said:

“I’ve decided to come and work for your company, but there are a few things I feel you should be aware of before I start. First of all, I will only be working a couple of days a week and when I do come in, it’ll only be for about three hours at a time.”

“If I want to make plans to go somewhere with my family during such times as Christmas, New Year, Easter or school holidays I will do so without anyone asking me questions about it and if some family difficulty arises, I will arrange for postponement of my work until I can get back to it.”

“As a salesperson for this company, I will do the best job I can, but I expect the company to provide all the incentives and awards needed to encourage my customers to buy our products. Please be sure the incentives and awards are changed on a regular basis to keep up the interest and motivation.”

“With regards to compensation, I would like a percentage of everything I sell. Let’s say £30 or more per hour, plus bonuses if I do a better than average job. I also expect you to offer me a variety of awards such as gifts and prizes just for doing my job.”

“Oh, and by the way; if I decide to become a manager with your company, I will expect additional bonuses paid to me on my personal sales and the sales of all people connected to me.”

By now the personnel manager was in convulsions of laughter but managed to say, “I don’t know where you are from lady, but there is no such job in the world as the one you’ve just described!”

“Well, I beg to differ”, the woman said, “my friend has just joined party plan and that is exactly the kind of job she has"

All Day extravaganza

The date for the next Stampin' Up all day extravaganza has been booked for Saturday 11th february. The event will run from 10 - 4 at Hethersett village hall.
The cost of the event will be £25 payable when booked. You will receive a free gift in your bag that will be a lovely surprise.
This event will showcase products from the New Spring Mini catalogue.

Dont forget that any orders on the day over £45 will qualify for a free set of stamps or paper pack from the sale a bration catalogue.

Everything you need to complete the card box and cards will be supplied for you, all you need to bring is a basic toolkit and adhesives & of course a packed lunch.
Refreshments will be provided including cakes with afternoon tea.

There will be a ribbon share available to buy & dont forget your camera to take Pictures of the sample boards.

Christmas wreaths

I have so many Christmas wreaths over the last couple of weeks I have absolutely no idea what I will put on my front door this year, When I was looking through a Christmas magazine in the shop yesterday i even saw an Eco wreath that was made out of sprouts, Not that I fancy one of those.

The wreath on these cards is from the Welcome Christmas stamp set, stamped whole it is a wreath but if you only stamp half of it across the top of the card then it makes a garland swag.

 A fake bow is a great way of adding texture to a card, by making a fake bow you use a lot less ribbon, but make sure if you are putting any kind of embellishment on a card that you take it to the post office to make sure that it fits through the slot & has the correct postage on it.

I always use fake bows on my cards, I can tie a bow but i'm never happy with it and always find the it sticks up at the wrong angle, I do also have a bow maker which does work, but is not very economical with the amount of ribbon you need, hence you wont ever see a hand tied bow on one of my cards.
