You Know You're Addicted to Scrapbooking If...

  • When you reach into your purse, your family scatters - they think you are reaching for that dreaded camera!
  • You see something metal in a parking lot or on the floor and you go back to pick it up. It turns out to be some sort of buckle/pop tab type of thing, so you pop it in your pocket, and think - yeah, I can put some ribbon through that.
  • You purchase every scrap magazine that hits the shelf, even though more than half the layouts in some are NOT your style.
  • You dream about layouts or crops.
  • You buy scrapbook "stuff" and have no idea how you are going to use it but think, "I will use it someday."
  • When you start scanning kids clothes because they would make great inspiration for a scrapbook page.
  • When you spend all day at work/school sketching layouts instead of working/studying.
  • You know you're addicted when you find an awesome piece of paper and actually DRESS your child up for pictures in clothes to MATCH THE PAPER.
  • You know you're addicted when your husband runs into the local eatery yelling "I need water....my truck's on fire!" And your first response is, "WAIT! I have the camera!"
  • ( I can relate to this one definately as last year our little cat went missing & after 3 days we found her up a tree, paul bravely rushed to get a ladder & shinned up the tree to save her, whilst Abi shouted " Wait there while I get a picture & then mum can scrapbook it")
  • You plan vacations around scrapbook stores or drive 175 miles to a scrapbook store.

Okay, own up how many boxes would you tick if you took the addiction test?

A Scrapaholic's Confessio

(Note: CHAOS = Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome)

Bless me, Scrap Fairy, for I have sinned, I know that's hard to believe; But it's not my fault, I'm a victim, you see, Of a sickness, a curse, a disease...

They say that confession is good for the soul, But I'm not convinced that that's true. So I'll tell you my faults and shortcomings, And I'll leave the decision to you.

That scrapbooking thing has got me for sure; I start with the best of intentions! Just let me check the CK website-- Oh look! A list of conventions!

Snacking is good to help with my scrappin' Though I tend to overindulge. Cakes and cookies and chocolates galore! My bulges are starting to bulge!

Oh my! How I buy the things I don't need Eyelets and ribbons and vellums. If anyone asks, "I've had it for years!" At least, that's what I tell 'em!

A scrap room? What's that? Stuff's all over the house I suffer from *CHAOS,* you know, No one comes, no one visits, except UPS He's my very best friend, that Joe!

Buy now! It's on sale! They won't have it again! The gadgets, the papers, the glues Look at the money that I can save! How can I possibly lose???

Organization is an area where I am certainly lacking I need help with that, others say But how can I do it? I've got things to do! How can I waste a whole day?

So here I sit amongst all of my clutter Housekeeping's a thing of the past Dusting and vacuuming and tidying up What's the point??? It just doesn't last!

I have too many ideas and not enough time They say that denial is rough I have it...I know it....can't find it.... Oh well....I'll just buy some more stuff.

I know that they pay me to do a good job But this 8 to 5 job gets so stressful I need a vacation...I need to relax... And then I will be more successful!

I spend time at work doing scrapbooking things I search for a phrase or a verse The perfect layout is all that I need My addiction is more like a curse!

I tell my husband that if I should die The best thing for him to do Is to have a garage or a fire sale And be sure to include all of Y-O-U!

I guess I'm a sinner, so give me my penance And hurry! Send me on my way! I've a 40% coupon right here in my purse Oh my gosh....it expires today!

Scrabookers 12 step plan

The Scrapbooker's 12 Step Program!

by Nicole Humphrey

  1. When leaving home, always vow that you won't end up at a local scrapbook store or other craft store. Repeat these words, "I have too many supplies, and I will not buy anymore. I have to use what I have. Unless of course, there is a great sale and a new product I just have to try!"
  2. Rearrange all your scrapbook supplies in your area so that there is no room to put anymore stuff in without having to buy new organization.
  3. Always wear clothes with pockets when leaving home in case you should end up at a local scrapbook store or other craft store - this is so that you'll always have a place to keep your hands at all times - this ensures that you will not handle the pretty papers and play with all the fun tools. Might want to keep a washcloth in there too, to wipe up any drool that accumulates from your wishful thinking.
  4. Never, ever, ever, obey the request of a sales lady to "Feel free to try out the different scrapbook tools!" Crops can be bad too. That's where some of my greatest, UNUSED tools stemmed from!
  5. Never make eye contact with a sales lady. Never look directly at the papers.
  6. Always take your spouse or a friend with you if you can't resist going to a local scrapbook store or craft outlet, they can remind you that you don't need anymore supplies!!
  7. Never pick up or subscribe to a scrapbook trade magazine. This can be hazardous to your health, and the health of your family. They may look innocent, but the magazines are full of the newest supplies and they WILL call out to you! Before you know it, you will have all those products sitting there collecting dust!
  8. Do not look at all your supplies before leaving the house as they will remind you that you don't have the latest and greatest trendy stuff!
  9. Don't dress poorly in hopes that store owners won't trust your check or credit card, Scrapbooker's are typically honest people and it won't work! Many of us just don't dress that great every time we leave the house because we are mothers, wives and busy all the time! This is not a good method!
  10. Do not rely on prayer alone to help as, God loves memories too. After all, He is the creator of many!
  11. Promise yourself that you will look at every patterned paper before buying any. This may slow you down a bit. And make the decision a little harder!
  12. Never, ever touch a computer and especially not one that connects to the Internet! There are all kinds of scrapbooking websites and online stores in there just waiting for you.

If all fails, run home immediately, and create a layout using what you already have!

Happy Scrapbooking - and have a great weekend!!

Crafts are here

Crafts are here, crafts are there,

My craft supplies are everywhere.

I really should clean this mess,

but I like it I confess.

Floor is littered, chairs are piled,

Kitchen's looking pretty wild.

On the table, counter too,

Seems that any place will do.

Hall is stacked with cartons high,

filled with things folks like to buy.

Garage is full, but so far....

there's still room to park the car.

I never have an idle day,

New ideas come my way.

Don't know yet what I'll create,

but my imagination's great.

My family smiles, they don't complain,

although at times I am a pain.

but when all is said and done,

I really am a crafty one!
