A birthday boy card today using Pick a Petal, Party this way & the very versatile just Perfect Alphabet.
Boy cards are always harder to make than girl cards, especially at the in between age, not a teenager & grow out of toys.

The dogs ears are made using the pick a petal stamp set.
The bunting is from the Party this way set  the alphabet is the Just perfect Alphabet.

Dyed flowers

The other night I was playing with the ink refills & working on projects to get the most out of the refills. I cam up with the idea of using the ink refills as dyes. Using the paper daisies from the Stampin' Up catalogue.
To dye the flowers It only takes a single drop of the ink refill, dropped into something like a plastic pringle tub lid & then spray the ink with water to disperse & dilute it.
I tried a couple of different ways with these flowers the first I put the dry flower into the dye & moved it around until it had been completely covered. The second flower I spritzed lightly with water before putting it in the dye & that achieved a slightly more tye dyed effect.
If you want to use the flowers immediately then you can dry them with a hairdryer or a heat tool, being careful not to melt the pringle lid like I did.

A few extra cards today & very inky fingers

Poor Abi is ill again with backache & stomach pains, we have been back to the doctors & he has given her some very strong painkillers so at least she can now get some sleep & hopefully get her through this bad period. So I am at home creeping around the house so as not to wake her, so I am making quiet cards, by quiet I mean no heat gun, no hammering or setting eyelets the old fashioned way.
The sun is shining here in Norwich & the skies are a beautiful shade of blue, as i cant get out with my camera today I decided to make a couple of spring cards.

Two similar cards but with a second complementing colour.

Scrapbooking ~ A learning curve

I have recently been inspired By the very talented Jane to do more scrapbooking, its something that I have wanted to do more of for a long time but have never been so inspired. Going to Janes house is lovely as she has scrap pages hanging in all of the rooms & they are so cool not to mention inspiring.
I did start a scrapbook two years ago of a family holiday in Brittany, but a couple of months after the holiday my father in law died and it was painful to have all of the holiday pictures out as it was the last family holiday he came on.

Well today I have completed a whole page, but as I say it was a learning curve & today I learnt a very important lesson, I started this layout last night & left it on the desk in my Stamping studio, which is the same place I dry my hair.
Well you can imagine the rest ........... I managed to blow my whole layout away before I had stuck it all together.

The petals are Stampin up Pick a Petal stamped on Yoyo Yellow card with Pink Passion ink. The Chipboard flower is also stampin up & is triple embossed adding a layer of colour each time, the two colours used are Yoyo Yellow & Only Orange.
The paper is by Sassy Frass lass and really lends itself to one of my favourite photo's.

Playing with colour

I managed to grab a couple of hours in the craft room this afternoon while the football was on, after I had dusted down and rid the room of cat hairs where the boys sneak in for a quiet sleep away from the kitten, I decided to have a play with some colour. One of my current favourite is the stampin up card which comes in four colour families.
Rich regals
Bold Brights

Earth elements
Soft subtles
The sets I used were my new Pick a petal & Simply said both from the current Stampin up catalogue.

Crafts are here

Crafts are here, crafts are there,

My craft supplies are everywhere.

I really should clean this mess,

but I like it I confess.

Floor is littered, chairs are piled,

Kitchen's looking pretty wild.

On the table, counter too,

Seems that any place will do.

Hall is stacked with cartons high,

filled with things folks like to buy.

Garage is full, but so far....

there's still room to park the car.

I never have an idle day,

New ideas come my way.

Don't know yet what I'll create,

but my imagination's great.

My family smiles, they don't complain,

although at times I am a pain.

but when all is said and done,

I really am a crafty one!
